Tax Assistance and Exemption Programs | ||||||||

The following programs offer full or partial tax exemptions, tax credits, or tax deferments for qualifying property owners. Agricultural Abatement (Land Use) Program - This program is designed to promote the preservation of land for public benefit and is based on use value rather than market value. There are four qualifying uses: agricultural, horticultural, forest and open space. For more information regarding the Special Assessment Program, contact the Assessor's Office.Rehabilitation of Residential Properties - This incentive program is designed to protect and preserve our maturing neighborhoods and offers partial tax exemption for the rehabilitation, renovation or replacement of qualifying structures. For more information on rehabilitation of residential properties, contact the Assessor's Office. Tax Exemptions - The exempt classification, or real estate not subject to taxation, applies to real estate owned and exclusively used by organizations that meet the specific state mandates (i.e., churches, lodges, civic and educational associations, federal, state and local governments, etc.). For more information, contact the Assessor's Office. Tax Relief for Seniors or Disabled - This program is income based for individuals over the age of 65 or totally disabled. Other requirements apply. For more information contact Social Services. Enterprise Zone - This program is designed to promote the revitalization of designated areas by increasing economic activity. For more information contact the Department of Economic Development. Payment Options - The Treasurer's Payment Options allows residents to make payments for real estate taxes and personal property taxes on-line, via telephone, by dropbox, mail or in person.
