Media and Community Relations Director

(757) 514-4100

Debbie George

The Media and Community Relations Department is the media and public relations arm of the City. Those of us in the department are responsible for keeping all Suffolk constituents informed about the actions of its City government.

We promote rapport and goodwill between the City and the community we serve through the interchange of ideas and the assessment of public opinion. In addition, we have the responsibility to seek public input and involvement in the affairs of City government and to establish effective two-way communications between the City and its constituents for everyone's mutual benefit.

The department operates Municipal Channel 8 link out on the local cable television system and produces on-location and in-studio programs of local interest. We also provide television coverage of many City activities and events, including live broadcasts of all regular City Council meetings.

The department handles all inquiries from the media and creates several publications for the reading public. The department also produces a quarterly publication called the Suffolk City Employees' News Edition, the SCENE, and maintains and updates the City's numerous Web sites.
