Every Circuit Court in the Commonwealth of Virginia is a court of record, and the clerk of each court is charged with the custody, safekeeping and proper indexing of legal and quasi-legal papers deposited in his office. The Clerk of Circuit Court's Office is responsible for recording and indexing every transfer of real estate; docketing and indexing of subdivision plats; issuing of all marriage licenses; filing of all civil suits; docketing and filing of criminal actions; filing divorce suits; and filing adoption petitions. Wills and estates are probated in the Clerk's Office. In addition, it is the duty of the Clerk to assign a deputy clerk to each courtroom to assist the six Circuit Court judges in carrying out each day's activities.
Office Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Cash Registers Close at 4:30pm - No monetary transactions after 4:30pm
Passport & Marriage License Applications processed 8:30am - 4:00pm
